The game between Liquid and Chaos which was scheduled for 22:00 will take place "later this week" due to "ongoing circumstances in the US".
The news was broken an hour before the scheduled start by Chaos, who announced on Twitter that they will not be competing in the match in order to give light to "the protests against this country's continued systemic racism and police brutality", referring to the events happening in the United States after Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot seven times in the back by the police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The North American CS:GO teams therefore follow the example set by NBA teams, which have decided to not play their playoff games and reschedule them for a later date.
After Chaos' announcement, ESL has confirmed that the match will not take place today and that they have "agreed to reschedule" the game, with no more details shared by the tournament organizer.
Liquid have also released a statement, confirming that Chaos initated the postpoment and added that they support the decision. "We believe competition is our players'platform and it's their personal decision wheter to use it as a means to protest", the organizaion explained on Twitter. "We appreciate and support players who do make that decision".
